The Council has approved the amendment of the General Town Development Plan sought by Ponteno.
The governing board of the Pontevedra Town Council approved the specific amendment to the General Town Development Plan requested by real estate developers Ponteno. The move is designed to provide legal coverage for the scheme that Ponteno has been promoting for years to expand the retail business estate at O Vao, which aims to create 300 jobs.
Local government spokesman, Raimundo Gonzalez (BNG), said Bricoking had filed an appeal on the issue of the service roads. The amendment of the Development Plan would see the current estate extended beyond the PO-531 road to an area of 42,000 square metres bordering the motorway. The process continues pending resolution of the regional government’s Urbanism Department regarding the strip of protected land belonging to the Coastal Authority, as the area is affected by the Alba Water-meadows.
The local government also approved a motion to contract an external occupational health & safety service for the City Council and its dependent bodies. The contract is for four years, extendable for another two. The tender amounts to an annual expense of 26,840 euros including VAT. Current legislation now requires that such matters be handled by external companies.
